About us

Sportive.com was established in 2012 by Joe Saumarez Smith, an entrepreneur and keen cyclist who discovered the world of sportives after his wife entered him for L’Etape du Tour as a 40th birthday present.

The site has grown since those early days, and now receives over a million page views each year. The sportive scene has seen many changes: events have come and gone – gravel has arrived! – and Sportive.com has covered it all, providing information and advice to new and experienced cyclists alike.

Sportive.com remains dedicated to serving the thousands of cyclists in the UK and beyond who simply love sharing a bike ride in the company of other passionate riders.
