Sportive.com was established in 2012 by Joe Saumarez Smith, an entrepreneur and keen cyclist who discovered the world of sportives after his wife entered him for L’Etape du Tour as a 40th birthday present.

The site now receives over a million page views each year, providing information and advice to new and experienced cyclists alike.
