Graean Cymru UCI Gravel Race & Granfondo 2027

The UCI Gravel World Series comes back to Wales in 2027 for one of the biggest gravel race weekends of the year! Join riders from around the world on this thrilling 105km course on the banks of Llyn Brenig in North Wales.

Graean Cymru – the name translates as “Welsh Gravel” – is the only UCI-sanctioned cycling race in Wales and a qualifying round of the UCI Gravel World Series. The fourth edition takes place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June 2027 on closed roads and forest trails around Llyn Brenig and Clocaenog Forest in North Wales. The event is organised by Glorious Gravel, part of Glorious Cycling Ltd, which runs around 50 gravel and road cycling events a year across the UK and internationally.

Riders finishing in the top 25% of their category earn a qualifying place at the 2027 UCI Gravel World Championships, held in Châtel in the Portes du Soleil as part of the UCI Cycling World Championships in Haute-Savoie, France (24 August – 5 September 2027). It is one of only a handful of chances in Britain to race for a place on the start line of a World Championship.

The course covers 105km over two laps of a 53km circuit, with 1,915m of climbing across forest track, open moorland and closed Welsh lanes on the Conwy–Denbighshire border. Racing is split across the weekend: Saturday hosts the Open Elite race and open age categories from 19 to 49, while Sunday is given over to the Female Elite race, all female age categories, and Open 50+.

Previous editions have drawn riders from 31 countries to this beautiful corner of North Wales and the route around the reservoir has become one of the most talked-about on the UCI Gravel World Series calendar.

The 2027 race also opens a landmark summer for cycling in Wales. Four weeks after Graean Cymru, the Tour de France arrives in the country for the first time, with Stage 3 of the Grand Départ running from Welshpool to Cardiff on Sunday 4 July 2027.
