The Thame Sportive 2026

The Thame Sportive is a community cycling event designed to cater to riders of all abilities.

The second edition takes place on Sunday, 14 June 2026. Four distances are on offer, encouraging participation from families, casual riders, and seasoned cyclists alike. The sportive aims to promote cycling, fitness, and community engagement while showcasing the scenic beauty of Thame and the Chiltern Hills.

The event will be strongly supported by Thame Town Council and organised by Thame Cycling Club and Thame Cycles. The intention is to start and finish in Thame town centre with barriers and a finish gantry. 

At the finish line, your triumph will be marked with a handcrafted slate medal, a true reflection of the strength and resilience it took to complete your chosen distance—whether 13km, 48km, 80km or the 130km. 

Choose your ride

Family Ride: 13km – Starts from 1pm, A relaxed, safe, family-friendly ride suitable for all ages, designed to encourage participation and cycling confidence.

Beginners Ride: 48km – New Community-Designed Course for 2026

Our 2026 Beginners Ride introduces a brand-new course, developed following valuable feedback from the local cycling community. This route has been carefully designed to be welcoming, achievable and enjoyable for riders new to sportives or looking for a more relaxed challenge.

Intermediate Route: 80km – Starts from 8am. A more challenging ride extending into the Chiltern Hills, ideal for experienced cyclists looking for a scenic and rewarding ride.

Advanced Route: 130km – Starts from 8am. A demanding route designed for seasoned cyclists, incorporating significant elevation changes and the best of the Chiltern Hills. 

Entry includes:

  • Free parking at Chinnor Rugby Club
  • Feed stations on the Intermediate (Medium) and Advanced (Long) routes with water, energy drinks, and snacks to keep you fuelled
  • Mechanical Assistance at the start/finish
  • First Aid at the start/finish with mobile medics on hand
  • Chip timing for riders on the Intermediate (Medium) and Advanced (Long) routes
  • Handcrafted slate finishers’ medal
