SUMMARY:Paris-Roubaix Challenge 2026
DESCRIPTION:This is your chance to shake\, rattle and roll along the famous Paris Roubaix cobbled route on the day before the pros. Discover just how much your body can be rattled in one day on a bike – Paris Roubaix will test your endurance levels and bike handling skills like few other sportives can. \n\n\n\nThe course is subject to change from year to year depending on the route of the professional race. But one thing’s guaranteed and that’s the famous sections of pavé\, the rough-hewn cobbles that make this race such a challenge for pros and amateurs alike. \n\n\n\nEntries for 2026 are now open. \n\n\n\nThe organisers say: \n\n\n\n“The ultimate challenge is to ride the 172km from Busigny to Roubaix\, on the same course as the pros will do the day after. However\, the routes of 145k and 70k will also leave you plenty of opportunity to get to know the tough cobblestone sections of the mythical Paris-Roubaix race.” \n\n\n\nThe full length 172km route features 28 sections of pavé\, with each one given a star rating to indicate difficulty. Full map and GPS details are available from the event website. \n\n\n\nWe have listed the starting point as Busigny\, which is where the 172km route sets off. However\, note that the 145km and 70km routes start and finish at Roubaix Velodrome. \n\n\n\nWhichever route you choose\, Paris-Roubaix offers a fantastic opportunity to sample the best of one-day racing at your own speed in the company of thousands of enthusiasts. Best of all\, the next day you can sit back and recover while watching the pro peloton ride the same route in half the time! \n\n\n\nEntry is via the event website\, www.parisroubaixchallenge.com. \n\n\n\n\nRead Alex beyfus’s report from the 2025 Paris-Roubaix Challenge here.\n\n\n\nAnd Josh Mott’s ride report from the 2014 Paris-Roubaix sportive.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHell of the North 170 KM \n\n\n\n\n\nLegendary 145 KM \n\n\n\n\n\nDiscovery 70 KM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Website

SUMMARY:Liege-Bastogne-Liege Challenge 2026
DESCRIPTION:Liège–Bastogne–Liège\, often called La Doyenne (“the oldest”)\, is one of the five Monuments of the European professional road cycling calendar. \n\n\n\nFirst held in 1892\, it takes place each year in the Ardennes region of Belgium\, from Liège to Bastogne and back. This “challenge” sportive is your chance to ride the same course as the pros will follow a day later\, cobbles and all. You can choose to ride the full 255km course\, but shorter routes of 147km and 81km are also guaranteed to test your legs! \n\n\n\nCycling Weekly said of the race: ‘In purely physical terms\, this is probably the toughest classic: the climbs are long\, most of them are pretty steep as well\, and they come up with depressing frequency in the final kilometers.’ \n\n\n\nIt may be tough\, but the Belgians are known for their passion for cycling and a festival atmosphere surrounds the event with live music\, food stalls and general merriment helping distract you from the pain. Best of all\, the next day you get to relax by the roadside eating chips and watching the pro peloton make it look easy. If that sounds like your cup of tea/beer\, sign up via the website and get training! \n\n\n\nEntries for Liege-Bastogne-Liege 2026 are open. \n\n\n\nWhy not sign up to the Sportive.com newsletter and get reminders about when all the top sportive entries go on sale? \n\n\n\nAnd read our reports from past editions of Liege-Bastogne Liege: \n\n\n\n\nKeith Gilks’ 2017 Liege-Bastogne-Liege ride report\n\n\n\nRob Wakefield goes the full distance in 2015: A monumental challenge over 273km\n\n\n\n\nTo get an idea of what you’re in for\, check out our reports on some other Spring Classics sportives: \n\n\n\n\nRonde van Vlaanderen Challenge (Tour of Flanders)\n\n\n\nParis-Roubaix Challenge\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLong 250 KM \n\n\n\n\n\nMedium 150 KM \n\n\n\n\n\nShort 80 KM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Website

SUMMARY:Fred Whitton Challenge 2026
DESCRIPTION:One of the UK’s most revered and gruelling cycling sportives. Known as “The Daddy of them all” by Cycling Weekly\, this legendary event is not just a ride—it’s a true test of endurance that rivals Europe’s toughest cycling challenges\, such as the Marmotte. For those who conquer it\, the sense of achievement is unmatched. \n\n\n\nThis charity event is steeped in tradition. It honours the legacy of Fred Whitton\, a passionate advocate for cycling in Cumbria and North Lancashire. Respecting Fred’s ideals\, it remains what it was always meant to be: a challenge. \n\n\n\nThe challenge spans 112 miles of breathtaking yet punishing terrain in the heart of the Lake District\, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Riders will take on iconic climbs like Kirkstone\, Honister\, Newlands\, Whinlatter\, Hardknott\, Wrynose\, and Blea Tarn passes. \n\n\n\nFor the elite\, the course can be completed in just under six hours\, but for most\, it’s an all-day epic\, with finishing times often exceeding eleven hours. With gradients as steep as 30% at the 98-mile mark\, this is widely regarded as the most challenging one-day ride in the UK. This ride will be your ultimate test if you’re ready to push your limits and embrace the challenge. \n\n\n\nRead our 2016 report on the Fred Whitton:\n\n\n\nAll the passes\, one fell swoop: Fred Whitton 2016 report \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Enter\n\n\n\nBecause the Fred Whitton Challenge is so popular entries are allocated via a ballot system. \n\n\n\nThe ballot opens for 10 days in December. First-time riders will be prioritised in the ballot\, with 400 first-time riders randomly selected; any first-time riders that don’t get a place on this first draw will be put back into the main ballot\, allowing them two opportunities to get a ride.  \n\n\n\nSuccessful entrants are notified by email. \n\n\n\nSign up to free notifications from Sportive.com to be informed when ballot entries open in December. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n112 Miles \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Website

SUMMARY:The 100 Climbs Cotswolds Challenge 2026
DESCRIPTION:Ahh\, the beautiful Cotswolds with its picture perfect buildings and manicured gardens… but underneath this veneer of perfection lie a whole host of killer hills. \n\n\n\nOrganised by Simon Warren of 100 Climbs fame\, this year’s first challenge is packed with vicious little climbs set in a maze of twisting lanes which means there are a multitude of different ways to plot your course. \n\n\n\nThere are 12 climbs to ride if you want to bag them all\, and like always on a 100 Climbs challenge YOU are in charge of your route so read on to find out more. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow does a 100 Climbs challenge work?\n\n\n\nIt’s simple. \n\n\n\n1. I tell you which hills to ride.2. You plot the route. That’s right\, YOU plot the route. There are no arrows to follow\, there’s no .gpx file to download\, just a selection of climbs on a map to link in whatever way you wish – a bit like orienteering\, but on a bike and with big hills. \n\n\n\nTo make it a challenge each climb is allocated an amount of points which are scored by scanning QR codes with your phone. There are a total of 75 points available and they are located at the TOP and BOTTOM of each climb from which you will need to score 40 to qualify as a finisher. This presents you the rider with the task of plotting the best course to outwit the other riders and get back in the shortest distance. (It’s not a race though\, speed is of no consequence)You should be able to put together a route at around 90km to bag the required points\, however if you want a real challenge and want to RIDE THEM ALL\, you will be looking at closer to 180km with close to 3000 metres of elevation. Although there are no prizes for speed there is a prize for shortest distance covered to reach 40 points\, and the shortest distance for all 75 points. \n\n\n\nHow do you know you have scored the points?\n\n\n\nThe event uses an App called iOrienteering which you will NEED to download to your phone for FREE here for Apple and or here for Android. \n\n\n\n(Registration only takes a couple of minutes\, and this is best done prior to event day.)When you arrive at the HQ\, scan the Load Event QR code and this will load the climbs into the App\, then when you are ready to start\, scan the Start QR code and get going. Next\, when you arrive at the BOTTOM of each climb you scan the first code\, then at the TOP of each climb there will be another board with another QR code. \n\n\n\nThe combined points give you the total for that climb and are weighted according to how easy they are to reach. When you hit 40 points you can come home and scan the finish QR code or keep going until you have bagged them all. \n\n\n\nNow the most important part\, THE CLIMBS!
\n\n\n\nBelow are the 12 counting climbs and their corresponding TOP and BOTTOM points and there are some absolute killers\, one especially! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPoints are allocated primarily on location rather than difficulty and you can get a rough idea where they all are on the map on the event website. \n\n\n\nFor more detailed info and to plot your route exactly click on the name of each climb will take you to its Strava page. The 100 Climbs APP is also an excellent tool to help plan!

 \n\n\n\n\nThe Broadway: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 8 Points.\n\n\n\nOwlpen Hill: BOTTOM 3 Points.
 TOP 4 Points.\n\n\n\nFrocester Hill: BOTTOM 2 Points.
 TOP 3 Points.\n\n\n\nThe W: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 2 Points.\n\n\n\nBear Hill: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 3 Points.\n\n\n\nOakridge Lynch: BOTTOM 2 Points.
 TOP 6 Points.\n\n\n\nKnapp Lane: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 7 Points.\n\n\n\nHaresfield Beacon: BOTTOM 2 Points.
 TOP 4 Points.\n\n\n\nBirdlip Hill: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 1 Point.\n\n\n\nAggs Hill: BOTTOM 2 Points.
 TOP 5 Points.\n\n\n\nBushcombe Lane: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 9 Points.\n\n\n\nSalter’s Lane: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 5 Points. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nApprox. 90-180 KM \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Website

SUMMARY:Hampshire Hilly Hundred 2026
DESCRIPTION:A challenging\, hilly route through the beautiful Hampshire countryside. \n\n\n\nStarting and finishing at Sparsholt College in Winchester\, the 2026 edition is one of the hardest sportives on our calendar and will combine the most challenging climbs that Hampshire has to offer. From Beacon Hill\, Watership Down and Windmill Hill to name a few there will be plenty of hills putting meaning behind the name! You’ll be treated to beautiful woodland\, stunning countryside\, quaint villages and of course\, amazing views from the tops of the climbs. But with those ups\, must come downs! With over 6000ft of climb on the 102mile course\, there is the same amount of descent for you to enjoy! \n\n\n\nWith a fully signed and marshalled course with feed stations along the route supporting you all the way\, there’s no reason why you should wait in ticking off one of the best sportives. Full mechanical support is available on the route and a medal\, drinks\, snacks and chipped timing await those who finish. *No medal option also available* If the 102mile route is a bit too much\, we have a mid length distance at 68 miles. \n\n\n\n“This was a fabulous event. The miles flew by. All the other riders and support staff were so friendly. It was challenging in places but great to do such proper hills! The aid station was outstanding. A real oasis that we got to visit a couple of times on the 100 miler.” Racecheck Review 2025 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nLong 102 Miles \n\n\n\n\n\nShort 68 Miles \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nENTER NOW
