SUMMARY:The 100 Climbs North-East Challenge 2026
DESCRIPTION:The roads in and around Weardale in County Durham are without doubt some of the best in the whole of Britain. They are deathly empty\, set in stunning scenery and absolutely packed with classic climbs like the hideous Chapel Fell and the wicked slopes of Peat Hill. \n\n\n\nThere are 14 climbs in this challenge if you want to bag them all\, and like always on a 100 Climbs challenge YOU are in charge of your route so read on to find out more. \n\n\n\nOrganised by Simon Warren of 100 Climbs fame\, this is the second event in the series and follows the 100 Climbs Cotswolds Challenge on 10 May 2026. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow does a 100 Climbs challenge work?\n\n\n\nIt’s simple. \n\n\n\n1. I tell you which hills to ride.2. You plot the route. That’s right\, YOU plot the route. There are no arrows to follow\, there’s no .gpx file to download\, just a selection of climbs on a map to link in whatever way you wish – a bit like orienteering\, but on a bike and with big hills. \n\n\n\nTo make it a challenge each climb is allocated an amount of points which are scored by scanning QR codes with your phone. There are a total of 75 points available and they are located at the TOP and BOTTOM of each climb from which you will need to score 40 to qualify as a finisher. This presents you the rider with the task of plotting the best course to outwit the other riders and get back in the shortest distance. (It’s not a race though\, speed is of no consequence)You should be able to put together a route at around 100km to bag the required points\, however if you want a real challenge and want to RIDE THEM ALL\, you will be looking at closer to 160km with close to 4000 metres of elevation. Although there are no prizes for speed there is a prize for shortest distance covered to reach 40 points\, and the shortest distance for all 75 points\, so it’s ALL in the planning. \n\n\n\nHow do you know you have scored the points?\n\n\n\nThe event uses an App called iOrienteering which you will NEED to download to your phone for FREE here for Apple and or here for Android. \n\n\n\n(Registration only takes a couple of minutes\, and this is best done prior to event day.)When you arrive at the HQ\, scan the Load Event QR code and this will load the climbs into the App\, then when you are ready to start\, scan the Start QR code and get going. Next\, when you arrive at the BOTTOM of each climb you scan the first code\, then at the TOP of each climb there will be another board with another QR code. \n\n\n\nThe combined points give you the total for that climb and are weighted according to how easy they are to reach. When you hit 40 points you can come home and scan the finish QR code or keep going until you have bagged them all. \n\n\n\nNow the most important part\, THE CLIMBS!
\n\n\n\nBelow are the 14 counting climbs and their corresponding TOP and BOTTOM points and there are all stone cold classics. Points are allocated primarily on location rather than difficulty and you can get a rough idea where they all are on the map on the event website. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor more detailed info and to plot your route exactly click on the name of each climb will take you to its Strava page. The 100 Climbs APP is also an excellent tool to help plan!

 \n\n\n\n\nCrawleyside: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 2 Points.\n\n\n\nBale Hill: BOTTOM 5 Points.
 TOP 1 Point.\n\n\n\nCuthbert’s Hill: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 3 Points.\n\n\n\nMiddlehope Bank: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 2 Points.\n\n\n\nWell Bank: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 3 Points.\n\n\n\nPeat Hill: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 4 Points.\n\n\n\nWear Bank: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 4 Points.\n\n\n\nChapel Fell: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 7 Points.\n\n\n\nUnthank Bank: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 1 Point.\n\n\n\nBollihope Common: BOTTOM 1 Point.
 TOP 4 Points.\n\n\n\nMiry Lane: BOTTOM 2 Points.
 TOP 4 Points.\n\n\n\nNewbigging Common: BOTTOM 2 Points.
 TOP 7 Points.\n\n\n\nBail Hill: BOTTOM 2 Points.
 TOP 3 Points.\n\n\n\nYad Moss: BOTTOM 2 Points.
 TOP 8 Points.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nApprox. 100-160 KM \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Website

SUMMARY:The Giant Lincoln-Tugby Challenge 2026
DESCRIPTION:Working in partnership with Giant Lincoln\, ITP have created a fantastic sportive that will provide a long distance challenge through some magnificent countryside from Giant Lincoln in Doddington to their new store in Tugby\, Leicestershire – the home of Cafe Ventoux. \n\n\n\nLeaving Doddington Hall (postcode LN6 4RU\, just a few miles South West of the City of Lincoln) the route meanders along the flat lanes into Newark to pass the historic Castle before heading into the Vale of Belvoir where there will be a well stocked feed station. \n\n\n\nAfter a re-fuel and rest\, you will head up and out of the vale to make your way into some short but sharp hills to arrive at the half way point at Giant Tugby where a second feed awaits. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFollowing another re-fuel you’ll be back on the bike and heading back over the ‘lumps and bumps’ of East Leicestershire and back into the Vale of Belvoir but on different roads\, passing by Belvoir Castle as you descend to the 3rd feed of the day. A top up of fuel and you’ll be ready for the final leg back to Giant Lincoln on quiet\, picturesque lanes of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. \n\n\n\nBack at Doddington Hall you will be welcomed with a finishers medal\, hot food and drink and time to relax and reflect on a great achievement! \n\n\n\nFor those who aren’t quite ready for a 200km challenge\, there’s a shorter offering at 115km on mainly flat roads following the route to the first feed and picking up the route back home after some food and rest! \n\n\n\nStart time will be as follows (subject to adjustment depending on number of riders): \n\n\n\n• 200 km route starts from 0730 \n\n\n\n• 115 km route start from 0830 \n\n\n\nThe finish will close at 1830. \n\n\n\n\n\nSave 10% with Sportive Club!Join Sportive Club and save 10% on entry to the Giant Lincoln-Tugby Challenge\, along with discounts on over 80 UK sportives\, cycling brands\, bikes\, training\, trips and more. SUMMARY:Maratona dles Dolomites 2026
DESCRIPTION:Every year the Maratona gran fondo (that’s the Italian for sportive!) gets bigger. \n\n\n\nThe entry ballot for 2026 closed early November. Charity and tour operator places are still available \n\n\n\nThe intense competition for places is a reflection of the legendary nature of this ride\, which is up there with the Marmotte in terms of toughness and as a test of the amateur rider’s physical and mental strength. \n\n\n\nBilled as a race on (mostly) closed roads\, the Maratona starts and finishes in Corvara\, best known as a winter ski resort. It is a 138km ride with 4\,320 metres of climbing; there are two shorter routes but most people who make the trip all the way out to Italy want to ride the full route. The winner usually finishes in a little under 5 hours but plenty of riders take at least double that. \n\n\n\nThe Maratona route takes in seven major climbs: \n\n\n\n\nPasso Campolongo (length: 5.8km\, average gradient: 6.1%)\n\n\n\nPasso Pordoi (length: 9.2km\, average gradient: 6.9%)\n\n\n\nPasso Sella (length: 5.5km\, average gradient: 7.9%)\n\n\n\nPasso Gardena (length: 5.8km\, average gradient: 4.3%)\n\n\n\nPasso Giau (length: 9.9km\, average gradient: 9.3%)\n\n\n\nPasso Valparola (length: 11.8km\, average gradient: 6.7%)\n\n\n\nMür dl giat (the cat wall) (length: 300m\, average gradient: 13.1%)\n\n\n\n\nA Maratona Village is set up around the event in the town of San Leonardo with a fan zone\, pasta and music\, big screens\, a shuttle service to nearby towns and of course concession stands from leading cycling brands including Pinarello\, Campagnolo\, Mavic and Selle Italia. \n\n\n\nHow to enter \n\n\n\nEntry to the Maratona is by ballot due to the huge demand for places. The registration window typically opens in mid October and closes in early November.  \n\n\n\nThe draw for places will take place in the second half of November with riders informed if they have been lucky enough to get a place from early December.  \n\n\n\nSign up for the Sportive.com newsletter to receive alerts about when entries open and are about to close. \n\n\n\nIf you fail to get in through the lottery draw then you can buy a charity place. \n\n\n\nCheck out the following Maratona related content on Sportive.com: \n\n\n\n\nOli Beckinsale’s 2019 Maratona ride report \n\n\n\nPaul Hunt’s 2018 Maratona ride report (Sellaronda route)\n\n\n\nJim Cotton’s 2017 Maratona ride report\n\n\n\nJoe Saumarez Smith’s 2015 Maratona ride report\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaratona 138 KM \n\n\n\n\n\nMedio 106 KM \n\n\n\n\n\nSellaronda 55 KM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Website

I can’t tell people enough how well organised and run it was. It was one of the best and hardest things I’ve ever done and left me with some brilliant memories. Do it! – Phil\, London \n\n\n\nThe thing that struck me the most was the ‘tone’ that you set for the event … you brilliantly managed to allow the testosterone-fuelled experts feel fulfilled as well as keeping the intermediate cyclists fully included and feeling special. Brilliant! – Simon\, Aberdeen \n\n\n\nTo anyone prevaricating … you’ll never regret it … a fantastic organisation and a fantastic event to do … don’t think twice just do it! – Chris\, Plymouth \n\n\n\nEvent Includes:\n\n\n\n\nAccommodation (Mostly twin share.
