SUMMARY:Tour of Flanders Sportive (We Ride Flanders) 2027
DESCRIPTION:2027 sees the 110th edition of the Ronde van Vlaanderen (or Tour of Flanders in English)\, one of cycling’s legendary Spring Classics. \n\n\n\nEach year the day before the pros battle it out a sportive version\, We Ride Flanders\, is held to allow the public to share the experience of riding the famous cobbles of Flanders in one of the highlights of the sportive calendar. \n\n\n\nFour distances are on offer ranging from 80km to 240km. In 2027 the longest distance will start from Bruges and finish in Oudenaarde. All other routes start and finish in Oudenaarde. \n\n\n\nAdvertisement\n\n\n\nTour of Flanders\n\n\n\nThose thinking of riding the original\, Spring edition of Vlaanderens mooiste (“Flanders’ finest”) had best be prepared for some serious endurance riding. \n\n\n\nThere are typically four distances on offer\, and the exact distance varies depending on the start location. For 2026 you can choose from 240km\, 160km\, 130km\, and 80km. \n\n\n\nEach route features a generous helping of the trademark Belgian cobblestones to tackle. How tough the route is depends largely on the weather – it can be anywhere from close to freezing to 18 degrees in Belgium in early April and bad weather can make the Tour of Flanders pretty tough for even highly experienced riders. \n\n\n\nThere are feed stations roughly every 30km along the route\, stocked with energy bars\, waffles and fruit (mainly bananas and orange segments). \n\n\n\nYou may want to fit new bottle cages to your bike that will hold your bottles tightly over the cobbled sections – although it is nothing like Paris Roubaix in terms of roughness of surface plenty of riders in previous years have said they lost bottles thanks to having plastic lightweight bottle holders or carbon ones that simply didn’t grip tightly enough. \n\n\n\nCobbled highlights to look forward to include: \n\n\n\n\nMolenberg: Molenberg\, Zwalm. Climbs 32m from 24m to 56m. Maximum 17 per cent.\n\n\n\nOude Kwaremont: Broekstraat\, Kwaremontplein\, Schilderstraat\, Kluisbergen. Climbs 93m from 18m to 111m. Maximum 11 per cent.\n\n\n\nKoppenberg: Steengat\, Koppenberg\, Oudenaarde-Melden. Climbs 64m from 13m to 77m; Maximum 25 per cent at inside of bend\, otherwise 22 per cent.\n\n\n\nTaaienberg: Taaienberg\, Maarkedal-Etikhove. Climbs 45m from 37m to 82m. Maximum 18 per cent.\n\n\n\nBerg ter Stene: Stene\, Horebeke. Climbs 68m from 32m to 100m. Maximum 9 per cent.\n\n\n\nLeberg: Leberg\, Brakel-Zegelsem. Climbs 39m from 60m to 9m. Maximum 15 per cent.\n\n\n\nBerendries: Berendries\, Brakel-Sint-Maria-Oudenhove. Climbs 65m from 33m to 98m. Maximum 14 per cent.\n\n\n\nValkenberg: Valkenbergstraat\, Brakel-Nederbrakel. Climbs 53m from 45m to 98m. Maximum 15 per cent.\n\n\n\nMuur-Kapelmuur: Abdijstraat\, Ouderbergstraat\, Oudeberg\, Gerardsbergen. Climbs 77m from 33m to 110m. Maximum 20 per cent.\n\n\n\nBosberg: Kapellestraat\, Geraardsbergen-Moerbeke. Climbs 40m from 65m to 105m. Maximum 11 per cent.\n\n\n\nTenbosse: Olifantstraat\, Brakel. Climbs 28m from 45m to 73m. Maximum 14 per cent.\n\n\n\n\nIf you go to ride this event make sure you book yourself into the hotel long enough to experience the pro riders in the actual Tour of Flanders the next day. This is the race that stops Belgium…when Fabian Cancellara won in 2014\, 85.7% of the population of the country watched his victory either live or on television! \n\n\n\nCheck out some more information on riding the Tour of Flanders: \n\n\n\n\nTips for riding the Tour of Flanders for the first time\n\n\n\nLouise Bell rides the 2023 edition of the Ronde\n\n\n\nKeith Gilks’ 2016 Tour of Flanders ride report\n\n\n\nOisin Sands’ 2014 Tour of Flanders ride report\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDistance: 80-240 KM \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Website

SUMMARY:Paris-Roubaix Challenge 2027
DESCRIPTION:This is your chance to shake\, rattle and roll along the famous Paris Roubaix cobbled route on the day before the pros. Discover just how much your body can be rattled in one day on a bike – Paris Roubaix will test your endurance levels and bike handling skills like few other sportives can. \n\n\n\nThe course is subject to change from year to year depending on the route of the professional race. But one thing’s guaranteed and that’s the famous sections of pavé\, the rough-hewn cobbles that make this race such a challenge for pros and amateurs alike. \n\n\n\nPre-registration for 2027 is now open. \n\n\n\nAdvertisement\n\n\n\nThe organisers say: \n\n\n\n“The ultimate challenge is to ride the 172km from Busigny to Roubaix\, on the same course as the pros will do the day after. However\, the routes of 145k and 70k will also leave you plenty of opportunity to get to know the tough cobblestone sections of the mythical Paris-Roubaix race.” \n\n\n\nThe full length 172km route features 28 sections of pavé\, with each one given a star rating to indicate difficulty. Full map and GPS details are available from the event website. \n\n\n\nWe have listed the starting point as Busigny\, which is where the 172km route sets off. However\, note that the 145km and 70km routes start and finish at Roubaix Velodrome. \n\n\n\nWhichever route you choose\, Paris-Roubaix offers a fantastic opportunity to sample the best of one-day racing at your own speed in the company of thousands of enthusiasts. Best of all\, the next day you can sit back and recover while watching the pro peloton ride the same route in half the time! \n\n\n\n\nRead Alex beyfus’s report from the 2025 Paris-Roubaix Challenge here.\n\n\n\nAnd Josh Mott’s ride report from the 2014 Paris-Roubaix sportive.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHell of the North 170 KM \n\n\n\n\n\nLegendary 145 KM \n\n\n\n\n\nDiscovery 70 KM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Website

You can choose to ride the full 255km course\, but shorter routes of 147km and 81km are also guaranteed to test your legs! \n\n\n\nCycling Weekly said of the race: ‘In purely physical terms\, this is probably the toughest classic: the climbs are long\, most of them are pretty steep as well\, and they come up with depressing frequency in the final kilometers.’ \n\n\n\nIt may be tough\, but the Belgians are known for their passion for cycling and a festival atmosphere surrounds the event with live music\, food stalls and general merriment helping distract you from the pain. Best of all\, the next day you get to relax by the roadside eating chips and watching the pro peloton make it look easy. If that sounds like your cup of tea/beer\, sign up via the website and get training! \n\n\n\nAdvertisement\n\n\n\nEntries for Liege-Bastogne-Liege 2027 are not yet open. SUMMARY:Fred Whitton Challenge 2027
DESCRIPTION:One of the UK’s most revered and gruelling cycling sportives. Known as “The Daddy of them all” by Cycling Weekly\, this legendary event is not just a ride—it’s a true test of endurance that rivals Europe’s toughest cycling challenges\, such as the Marmotte. For those who conquer it\, the sense of achievement is unmatched. \n\n\n\nThis charity event is steeped in tradition. It honours the legacy of Fred Whitton\, a passionate advocate for cycling in Cumbria and North Lancashire. Respecting Fred’s ideals\, it remains what it was always meant to be: a challenge. \n\n\n\nThe challenge spans 112 miles of breathtaking yet punishing terrain in the heart of the Lake District\, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Riders will take on iconic climbs like Kirkstone\, Honister\, Newlands\, Whinlatter\, Hardknott\, Wrynose\, and Blea Tarn passes. \n\n\n\nFor the elite\, the course can be completed in just under six hours\, but for most\, it’s an all-day epic\, with finishing times often exceeding eleven hours. With gradients as steep as 30% at the 98-mile mark\, this is widely regarded as the most challenging one-day ride in the UK. This ride will be your ultimate test if you’re ready to push your limits and embrace the challenge. \n\n\n\nRead our 2016 report on the Fred Whitton:\n\n\n\nAll the passes\, one fell swoop: Fred Whitton 2016 report \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Enter\n\n\n\nBecause the Fred Whitton Challenge is so popular entries are allocated via a ballot system. \n\n\n\nThe ballot opens for 10 days in December. First-time riders will be prioritised in the ballot\, with 400 first-time riders randomly selected; any first-time riders that don’t get a place on this first draw will be put back into the main ballot\, allowing them two opportunities to get a ride.  \n\n\n\nSuccessful entrants are notified by email. \n\n\n\nSign up to free notifications from Sportive.com to be informed when ballot entries open in December. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n112 Miles \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Website
