SUMMARY:RIDE The Dales 2026
DESCRIPTION:The northernmost of our RIDE Series – it features one of the most unrelenting climbs on offer in Nidderdale.  \n\n\n\nYorkshire doesn’t really do flat. Riders on the Champion & Classic routes are challenged to conquer the infamous Lofthouse climb (Trapping Hill) on our toughest RIDE\, whilst those looking to simply enjoy some of the most scenic cycling Yorkshire has to offer can opt for the Cool route. \n\n\n\nStarting out from Ripon racecourse\, RIDE The Dales provides the opportunity to climb one of the toughest climbs in Nidderdale\, Trapping Hill\, or Lofthouse. Featured in the Tour de Yorkshire 2016 and UCI Road World Champs 2019\, at 1.7 miles in length\, and height gain of 248 metres with an average gradient of 9.9%\, maxing out at 17%\, it’s an absolute beast! The views from the top are totally worth it though! \n\n\n\nLooking for something more sedate\, but equally spectacular? DESCRIPTION:The RIDE Tommy Godwin Challenge was set up to honour the memory of 1948 Olympic cycling medallist Tommy Godwin. \n\n\n\nTommy enjoyed cycling in the Warwickshire lanes and in later years was always keen to encourage other cyclists\, whether established stars or total newcomers. With this event we aim to replicate Tommy’s experience of enjoying the countryside in Warwickshire and Worcestershire and his vision of encouraging more people to get out cycling.  \n\n\n\nTwo routes offer views of Warwickshire and Worcestershire countryside\, with plentiful aid stations it’s the perfect ride whether you’re just starting out or wanting a new challenge. \n\n\n\nThe Warwickshire and Worcestershire countryside is a hidden gem for cyclists\, offering peaceful lanes\, rolling hills\, and postcard-worthy views at every turn.
