Ride the greatest stages in Tour de France history with Le Loop “Tour of Tours” 2027
The route for Le Loop’s 2027 Tour of Tours has been announced, and it looks like it’ll be a vintage year (in more ways than one)!
Many of you will already be familiar with Le Loop: a fully supported event that follows the route of the Tour de France each year, one week ahead of the pro race, while raising funds for the excellent William Wates Memorial Trust.
But in 2027, for one year only, Le Loop are going to do things a little differently. Instead of faithfully following the exact route of the 2027 Tour, they’ve created a 21-stage tour that celebrates the very best stages in Tour history.
Dubbed the Tour of Tours, this one-off 2027 edition will offer entrants a unique chance to ride a selection of iconic stages from Tour de France legend, from as far back as 1939 right to the present day – and even a Tour des Femmes stage.

Running from 25 June to 19 July 2027, the Tour will start with the “missing” 2020 Grand Départ from Nice – lost due to Covid – and will end 21 stages later in Paris with the 2027 official stage route.
As you’d expect, the Tour of Tours is packed full of cycling’s most storied climbs in the Alps and Pyrenees.
Riding a helix around the Southern half of France, Le Loop have made sure to include Mont Ventoux, picked some incredible stages in the Pyrenees (Tourmalet? Of course!), then back towards the Alps to climb infamous Tour de France cols including Croix de Fer, Glandon, Galibier and Alpe d’Huez. It’s an absolute treasure trove of epic Tour de France stages!

It’s no coincidence that Le Loop have unrolled their new format for 2027, the year the Tour de France returns to the UK for its Grand Départ. Fantastic as it is to see the Tour back on home soil, for Le Loop riders the UK stages would lack some of the novelty factor of riding on the Continent – besides which, the logistics of the transfers involved would not be ideal.
By curating the Tour of Tours, Le loop have been able to reduce the transfers-hassle factor and boost the quality ride time. Three stages start in Nice and two in Luchon. It all means less packing, fewer early morning alarm calls, less time spent on transfers, and more time riding the Tour de France’s most spectacular parcours!

New format, same unrivalled support
Apart from the route, everything else is the same as many of you have come to know and love about Le Loop: the organisation, the Tour de France feel, the sunshine(!), the rest days, the feed stops, transfers, camaraderie and brilliant event team.
As ever, riders will be able to choose from a selection of stages or, for the ultimate challenge, all 21 stages over three weeks.
The only important difference is the way you sign up. Because the route for 2027 is pre-planned, Le Loop are able to open sales without the usual wait until the October Tour de France announcement. Entries will open in two distinct phases:
- Friday 5th June 9am – 5pm: On this day only, Le Loop will release a maximum of 50% of the places for each Loop. If you miss out on 6th June, you’ll have to wait until…
- Friday 24th July 9am: All remaining places for the 2027 tour will go on sale.
Le Loop have planned the Tour of Tours as a one-off, before reverting to the traditional format again in 2028. So, if you’d like the unique chance to ride a “greatest hits” selection of Tour de France stages past and present, get those entry dates into your diary!
