Coast to coast in a day: Frontier 300 adds one-day road ultra for 2026

Riding 300km over two days wasn’t enough for you, so Focal Events, organisers of the popular Panaracer Dirty Reiver, Dalby Grit and Gravel Rocks events, have launched a new one day road event at the SCOTT Frontier 300.

Covering 300km of stunning road routes and 3,750m of elevation, the event takes riders on an epic adventure from the west coast of Scotland to the east coast of England.

This year’s edition of the Frontier 300 takes place on the weekend of 29-30 May 2026. A gravel event since its inception, the organisers added a new road route to the programme late last year initially over two days as part of a bikepacking event.

But, following feedback from riders who wanted a stiffer endurance test, Focal fast-forwarded the introduction of a one-day option, which was set to launch in 2027, to this May’s ride.

The Frontier 300 one-day road edition sets off from Rockcliffe Bay, Scotland, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Riders will set off in a group start alongside those tackling the all-road route, sharing certain sections along the way.

The parcours heads east towards the borders, riding through forests, past Castles and even a Buddhist Temple along a stunning route that will never be forgotten. The route continues eastwards towards the finish at Druridge Bay, 300km later, where a celebration by the beach will be waiting, stories are shared and adventures compared.

“Sometimes when the community speaks you have to act fast!” explained co-Event Director, Neil Atkinson.

“The initial introduction of a road version of Frontier 300 to support the already popular and growing all-road version was from rider feedback, but it turns out more people want to really push their limits over one day than we’d originally expected, so we’ve delivered – 300km over one day coast-to-coast. We say, we live on an island – everyone should ride across it at least once! Even if that’s in one hit.”

Entry costs for the one-day road event is £145. This will include fully-stocked feed stations, overnight camping, evening meal, route GPX, breakfast, coffee, a warm and supportive atmosphere, some of the best bikepacking brands, brunch by the beach on Sunday morning and an adventure never to be forgotten.

The SCOTT Frontier 300 is Focal Events’ second event in the calendar year, following what will be the 10th edition of Dirty Reiver this April. Focal’s one day gravel race, Dalby Grit, follows in June before the third edition of the Gravel Rocks weekend celebration of all things gravel in July.
