Stone Circle launches 340km overnight gravel ultra

Organisers of the Stone Circle Gravel Festival (26-28 June, Wiltshire, UK) have announced a new invite-only challenge for 2026. The ‘Knight Ride’ is a 340km ultra endurance ride that takes place overnight. Weaving together the most popular sections of the three existing 2026 routes: The Jester (80km), Rebel (130km) and Bastard (220km), riders will pass Stonehenge at sunset, and sunrise.

Stone Circle adds a 340km ultra option: now the party goes on all night.

Billed as the Stone Circle’s very own triple crown, the ‘Knight Ride’ entrants will roll out at 9:30pm on Friday evening, passing Stonehenge at sunset before heading deep into the Wiltshire countryside for a long night in the saddle. As dawn breaks on Saturday morning, they will pass Stonehenge once more, this time at sunrise, before pushing on for another 200km to finish on Saturday afternoon with the riders of the three daylight routes.

At the finish line, they’ll come home to the Stone Circle Festival Fort where live music, DJs, beer, pizza and turbo karaoke awaits. Those who complete the full 340km will be Knighted by event MC Matt Stephens as part of the festivities.

This new addition to the programme is intended to appeal to ultra and endurance athletes who want a new challenge. The overnight section is supported by Wahoo and Ben Turner, Adventure Coach. Daytime sections are supported with event feed stations and as a part of the existing Bastard route, creating a unique blend of ultra-endurance adventure and festival-style event experience.

“The Knight Ride will combine grit, adventure, and history,” said Jane Fairley, Event Director. “Riding past Stonehenge at sunset, surviving the night, then returning at sunrise before riding another 200km will be brutal. Personally I think they’re unhinged.”

Ben Hitchins of Wahoo adds: “What a brilliant idea – and it’s the perfect opportunity to showcase the importance of turn-by-turn navigation and long battery life.”

Entry to the Knight Ride in 2026 is limited to 20 riders, with plans to expand the offering in 2027. Entry is by ballot only, with Knights selected from existing 2026 entrants of the 220km Bastard route. The ballot will open to registered Stone Circle riders on 22 April. Places are restricted to riders who estimate they can average 18km/h overnight, and riding the Bastard route. The ballot will be drawn on 29 April.
