Jessica Varnish, whose Olympic dreams were shattered last year by a relegation in the Team Sprint competition with Victoria Pendleton, has laid to rest that disappointment with a golden week at the British National Track Championships in Manchester.
Despite a back injury, Varnish triumphed in first the women's 500m time trial on Wednesday and then the sprint on Friday, justifying her reputation as a rising star in British women's cycling.
"I'm really happy with the sprint win because it's been something I've been working on", said Varnish, her reaction hinting at the hard work she has put in behind the scenes this year.
Also high on double gold success this week was Laura Trott, with victory in Thursday's pursuit followed by gold in the points race - a win achieved through top tactics as much as speed as she finished ahead of her Wiggle Honda team mates Dani King and Elinor Barker.
"It was really hard, it was a tough race," Trott commented afterwards. Nonetheless, double gold is fast becoming standard for Trott, with her Olympic golds swiftly followed by another double in the World Cup in Glasgow later in the year.
