Entries to the 2022 Etape du Tour have sold out less than a day after going on sale.
Places for next year's Etape, which will see riders take on stage 12 of the 2022 Tour de France, went on sale at 3pm yesterday.
The Etape du Tour will take place on 10 July 2022 in Briancon. The course is a tough one, with over 4500m of climbing culminating in a summit finish atop the iconic Alpe d'Huez.
But cyclists clearly weren't deterred by the challenge; a notice on the event website today announces that all places have already been snapped up.
If you've missed out on a place, there are still a few options available:
- Riding with a Tour Operator
- Entry through a bib + accommodation package at Alpe d'Huez
- Riding with official charity Macmillan Cancer Support
La Marmotte to the rescue
Another option would be to ride the Marmotte Alps instead.
Taking place the weekend before the Etape on 3 July 2022, La Marmotte is itself a bucket list challenge for cycling fans. The course features three iconic climbs in the French Alps, including Alpe d'Huez.
Entries opened last week, and at time of writing there are still places available. Entry is priced €110, with ultra and 2-day options also on offer.
