Any time you see the words "Yorkshire", "sportive" and "100 miles" in a sentence, you know you're in for a tough ride.

Struggle Dales is no exception - the fact they call their series "the Struggle" is a clue - but this year's edition has a fresh twist.

See you can have a good time even in Yorkshire.

Setting out from Harrogate on Sunday 19 May, riders will tackle the 108-mile (175km) route route in the reverse direction.

"Great, that means it's all downhill!" you may be thinking. Well, not quite - it just means you'll get to tackle iconic climbs like Trapping Hill and Malham Cove from the reverse direction.

The bad news is, those climbs are even steeper from this side. The good news, well, Struggle reckon that "with prior training, grit and guts it's achievable for almost any ambitious road cyclists."

So long as you don't mind a few hills.

And don't worry, the Struggle team know how tough these rides are and they've got your back. The climbs are "woven into best Yorkshire Dales scenery" to help distract you, with Struggle staff working to support riders throughout the challenge.

Event HQ is Army Foundation College in Harrogate. There are a few places left, but don't delay - with event date approaching, time is running out for that "prior training" we mentioned...
