Entries will open tomorrow, Friday 22 November, for the Marmotte Granfondo Alps 2025.

Organisers announced the date earlier today on social media.

One of Europe's premier sportive cycling challenges, La Marmotte will take place on Sunday 22 June 2025.

The route of La Marmotte is one of the world's toughest one-day cycling challenges, with famous Tour de France climbs including the Col du Glandon, the Col du Télégraphe, the Col du Galibier and the legendary Alpe d'Huez.

It stacks up to some 5000m of climbing over 177km - a challenging day in the saddle that places high demands on a cyclist's endurance.

The 2024 edition was mired in controversy after a last-minute change of date prompted by a snap election called by France's President Macron. A week before the event, the organisers announced that the Marmotte would take place on Saturday instead of Sunday to avoid a clash with polling day.

The organisers of this year's L'Etape du Tour were forced to make the same change in a case of politics disrupting the best-laid plans of thousands of cyclists.

The registration fee for La Marmotte 2025 is TBC but last year prices ranged from €110 to €130, rising as more people enter.

For those cyclists who'd rather savour the route over two days, the Marmotte Rando option allows you to do just that. Entries last year were priced €85.

Places will sell out fast, so if you're looking to tick off this bucket-list event then speedy entry is advised.
