What happens when you send a DJ with a camera to report on London Bike Show? We decided to find out - and sure enough, the results involve some loving close-ups of lager. For research purposes, of course... All photos Jon Wheatley.
First to catch our reporter's eye is this fine specimen from the Cannondale stable. We think it's a Supersix Evo...
...although whether this paint job will be available as stock is unconfirmed:
Moving to the track (or street), here's a luminous litte titanium number from Spin Cycle Works. Rim logos: too much?
Proving to be a man of expensive tastes, our man spots another boutique build - this time from London's Saffron Frameworks. Based in Camberwell, Saffron frames are hand built by Matthew Sowter, and there are some beautiful examples of his work on the Saffron website.
Bespoke quality commands a premium price - although to be fair, speccing Lightweight wheels will add a few quid to any build:
And now for something completely different: meet Chloe, an updated model from Raleigh's urban range.
Sticking with the venerable Raleigh, the Militis C6 represents the the brand's high-end performance frames. The sort of bike Raleigh will hope to see adopted by sportive riders, in other words...
It's not all about the bike of course. Here we have a sighting of Rapha's roving broomwagon, last spotted in Australia just days before the London Bike Show:
And there's also beer:
Although in this case, it's a refreshing isotonic recovery drink:
Suitably refreshed, it's back to business. And there's just time to check out the latest from Planet X. Cracking paint job on this Spitfire frameset - but can it reach 584 km/h?
Finally, something for the cyclocross crowd - this appears to be the XLS model, which sports disc brakes and a Lion of Flanders decal instead of mudguards:
So that was the London Bike Show 2014! Thanks to Jon for braving the throngs to bring us his sterling reportage, and please enjoy your refreshing isotonic recovery drinks responsibly.
