Grand Tours Club launches Le Tour de Britain

Grand Tours Club has launched Le Tour de Britain – a new series of road cycling sportives across the UK, celebrating the return of the Tour de France to Britain in 2027.

The series will launch this year, with five events – dubbed “Queen Stages” – in 2026. The rides take in some of the UK’s most celebrated cycling regions including the Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Borders, Lancashire and the Lake District.

Four of the events encompass significant sections of the opening stages of next year’s Tour de France Grand Départ, offering cycling fans a chance to experience at first-hand the roads the pro peloton will tackle next July.

“Le Tour de Britain [is] a new series of road cycling sportives heading to the quieter corners of the country in search of legendary climbs, secret spots, beautiful scenery and properly quiet roads,” explain Grand Tours Club.

“Every ride in the series is a Queen Stage. There are no flat warm-ups, no easy options, no transition stages and no shortcuts – each event is built to be the hardest and most memorable day of any rider’s season.”

The series is organised by Grand Tours Club (GTC), a UK road cycling events brand specialising in single-day Queen Stages and multi-stage international tours drawing on the heritage of cycling’s grand tours. GTC is part of Glorious Cycling Ltd, the events company behind the popular Glorious Gravel series of off-road sportives and races including Graean Cymru.

Le Tour de Britain Femmes coming soon

Grand Tours Club will also be launching a women’s only series, Le Tour de Britain Femmes, in coming weeks, with two stages set in the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District.

“The Tour coming back in 2027 is the perfect time to celebrate the glorious road cycling we have in this country,” said Phil Sears, director of Grand Tours Club.
