Coast to Coast in a Day (or two): Scott Frontier 300 serves up new road options for 2027
The Scott Frontier 300 returns from 4th–6th June 2027, with a new dedicated road-only route giving road cyclists the opportunity to experience one of the UK’s most distinctive coast-to-coast cycling challenges.
Organised by Focal Events – the same team behind the gravel phenomenon that is the Dirty Reiver – the Frontier 300 is a 300km point-to-point journey through remote landscapes, quiet roads and the spectacular Border country.
For 2027, riders can choose to tackle the new Road Only route, which sits alongside the established All Road/Gravel Frontier 300.
The concept is simple: start on the west coast, finish on the east coast and experience 300km of some of the finest riding and landscapes in between.
1 Day Epic – Road Only
For riders looking for a serious endurance challenge, the 1 Day Epic packs the entire coast-to-coast journey into one memorable day in the saddle.
At approximately 300km with 3,750 metres of climbing, it is a significant undertaking. The route travels through the beautiful and remote landscapes of South West Scotland, across the Border country and onwards through Northumberland before eventually reaching the North East coast.
But the Frontier 300 is designed to be about much more than chasing a finishing time. Long stretches of quiet road, constantly changing scenery and the satisfaction of travelling from one side of the country to the other give the event the feel of a genuine point-to-point adventure.
2 Day Adventure – Road Only
For riders who want to experience the Frontier at a different pace, the 2 Day Adventure divides the full 300km journey across two days, with an overnight stop at Kielder.
The format gives riders more opportunity to enjoy the landscape, ride with friends and soak up the experience along the way, while still completing the full coast-to-coast challenge.
With event staff taking care of logistics like kit transport, riders can concentrate on the journey itself. The overnight at Kielder also brings a social element to the weekend, giving riders the chance to relax, refuel and share the experience before setting out for the east coast the following morning.
Event Director Neil Atkinson said:“We’ve always believed that the Frontier 300 is about the journey as much as the surface you ride on. The landscapes and the feeling of travelling from one side of the country to the other are what make this event so special.
“We wanted to give road cyclists the opportunity to experience that as well. Some riders will want the challenge of completing 300km in a single day, while others will love the idea of taking two days, riding with friends and making a proper adventure of it.
“Whichever option you choose, you start on one coast and finish on the other – with 300km of some pretty spectacular countryside in between.”
The new Road Only options sit alongside the Frontier 300’s established All Road/Gravel routes, giving riders four different ways to ride across the UK in 2027. Whether it’s gravel or tarmac, one day or two, the goal remains the same: Cross the country. Reach the coast. Find your Frontier.
