Cycling tech company See.Sense launched a crowdfunding campaign last Friday, and investors eyes are lighting up. Over £400,000 has already been pledged, taking the company past the 80% mark of their fundraising goal in a matter of days.
Best known for the Icon, their smart bicycle light (check out our review), this isn't the first time See.Sense have had a successful whip around. The Northern Ireland-based company previously raised £114,000 from over 1,400 backers on Kickstarter, and have since then developed a strong community of cyclists with a loyal following of 27,000 cyclists on social media. See.Sense have now returned to crowdfunding, inviting their community to invest from as little as £10 to become part owners in the firm and, if all goes to plan, enjoy being a part of the success journey.
As well as gaining equity in the firm, investors also have the opportunity to receive special 'money can't buy' rewards. The 'Green Jersey' reward includes a tour of the factory where See.Sense products are made. 'Polka Dot' King of the Mountain rewards will take investors on a scenic trip of Northern Ireland where they can enjoy seeing the Giro d'Italia route and Game of Thrones locations. Top level 'Yellow Jersey' rewards will take investors on an iconic European cycling city break to either Amsterdam or Copenhagen.
With over two weeks still to go until the campaign closes, See.Sense is well on its way to reach its target of £500,000. They plan to use the investment to accelerate their innovative product roadmap, producing more products cyclists love and empowering them to help create smarter and better cities using crowd sourced data.
See.Sense CEO, Philip McAleese said he was overwhelmed at the response of the campaign so far. "We have some hugely innovative new products in the pipeline," he commented, "and we're inviting our community - the people who use and love our products - to help us grow."
See.Sense's intelligent and connected bicycle light, Icon, designed and manufactured in Northern Ireland, is now stocked with major retailers such as Chain Reaction Cycles and sold into more than 50 countries around the world.
The company has nearly doubled its revenues year on year and has been nominated by the cycle industry as a 'Breakthrough Brand of the Year,' and was featured in the London Design Museum's 'Cycle Revolution Exhibition.' The good news keeps coming, with the company just announcing a new distribution deal with leading distributor Raleigh, covering UK and ROI.
