This summer's Maratona dles Dolomites is the latest high-profile European sportive to fall to the coronvirus outbreak.
Set to take place on 5 July, the organisers have taken the decision to cancel this year's Maratona in solidarity with those suffering in the current pandemic.
The Dolomites will still be there in 2021.
A statement on the event website describes this year's edition, which had the theme Art, as an "unfinished artwork".
"This is not the right time to party," continues the statement, confirming that all entrants will have their places transferred to the next edition.
The date for next year's Maratona dles Dolomites has been announced as 4 July 2021.
