Nottingham-based e-bike company WAU has announced the opening of its new factory in Essex, as the firm continues to expand to meet surging demand.
The site, which officially opened for production in July, is based in a central point for the firm in South Woodham Ferrers.
After taking more than a year to develop, the new factory is already accommodating the significant rise in orders for electric bikes as consumers look to enjoy a summer of freedom and rapidly pivot away from public transport.
Six full-time engineers are emplyed at the site, alongside two logisticians who will oversee all outgoing shipments nationwide.
Founders Linas Pozerskis and Crystal Drury are already preparing for the next phase of WAU's growth with plans to move into another expansion site within the next year. This will be close by to its new central plant in Essex.

E-bike sales are booming among a wider shift towards sustainable transport, fuelled in part by the rapid population rise in urban areas and people looking for a healthy alternative to public transport amid the pandemic.
WAU believe riders want "a much stronger road presence" and say their bikes offer this, with a "sleek one-piece design with integrated long-lasting battery, anti-theft and smart 360o light technology to ensure a much better riding experience."
Crystal said: "We are delighted that the sales of e-bikes are continuing to grow.
