Entries open today for L'Etape du Tour, one of the world's biggest amateur cycling events.

The 33rd edition of the Étape du Tour will take place in the French Alps on 20 July 2025. Riders will tackle the route of Stage 19 of next year's Tour de France.

Starting in Albertville, the 131km route takes in 4500 metres of elevation gain - comparable to the 2024 edition. There are five major climbs on the route, with Cote d'Hery-sur-Ugine (1004m) serving as a warm-up for the Col des Saisies (13.7km; 1650m).

Riders can then catch their breath on the descent into Beaufort, before a double-header of Col du Pre (1716m) and the Cormet de Roselend.

Another long descent follows before tackling into the final climb, which is a long one: 19.1km at an average 7.2% leading to a summit finish at La Plagne (2052m).

Entry to L'Etape starts at €159 with various upgraded entry packages available for a surcharge.

Sportive fans may be interested in the "My Double Le Tour" bundle, which for €265 includes entry to both L'Etape du Tour and the new L'Etape du Tour de France Femmes sportive on 2 August 2025.

Entries open at 16:00 today (3pm UK time) and are expected to sell out within hours.
