Sir Chris Hoy has launched the Tour de 4, a new charity sportive set to take place in Scotland on Sunday 7 September 2025.

Beginning and finishing at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome in Glasgow, this new fundraising charity ride aims to help change the perception of people living with stage 4 cancer, whilst also raising vital funds for cancer charities across the UK.

Sir Chris Hoy has launched a new ride to fundraise for cancer charities.

Since receiving his own diagnosis, Chris' dream has been to get as many people as possible living with Stage 4 cancer, as well as their friends and families, to participate to whatever extent they can manage, raising money for the cancer charities that mean the most to them.

"It's really important for me to shine a spotlight on what a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis can look like and demonstrate that it is possible to live well and lead a happy life alongside this devastating diagnosis," said Sir Chris.

"I'm so excited about the potential of this event and hope we can raise vital funds to help support the research and great work that is being done by so many charities in the UK. I have been blown away by the support I've received since sharing my own cancer diagnosis and I want to personally thank each and every person who has got in touch.

"We have also had hundreds and hundreds of people reach out to share their own stories and so many wanting to take part in Tour de 4 or donate or help in other ways."

Registration for Tour de 4 will open on the 28 February. An inclusive event open to all, with 5,000 spaces available, there will be two distances to choose from - a 92km route and a shorter 60km option. Both will begin and finish at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome in Glasgow.

There will also be a family friendly 1km route and static bikes within the velodrome for those that aren't able to take part in the road event.

Further detail on the event, routes and options will be available on the website and those wanting to sign up will be able to select their preference, along with the cancer charity they would like to raise funds for when they register.

Join Hoy, Cavendish and Duncan Scott on Zwift

Zwift, the global online fitness platform for cyclists, have partnered with Tour de 4 and are hosting a virtual ride to officially launch the event on 8 February.

This will be the first of a number of rides to be held on the platform through to August 2025, with Zwift matching all charitable donations made by the community up to £50,000.

To celebrate the launch, Chris will be joined by a number of special guests on the 8th, including Sir Mark Cavendish KBE and Duncan Scott OBE. The ride begins at 10am and sign-ups are now open.

Chris said: "A huge thank you to the team at Zwift for their investment and support. Tour de 4 is all about bringing people together and Zwift is the perfect platform to do this; I get so much out of my Zwift rides, meeting and engaging with a brilliant community.

"I'm particularly excited to have a few special guests confirmed for the 8th so come and join us if you can - you never know who you might end up riding alongside!"
