Whilst the total length of the challenge event is a little over 55 miles it more than challenges the rider with over 1500 metres of climbing in its route. The first challenge is straight upon you with the climb of Carlton Bank after only 5 miles of warm up. The road undulates its way to the village of Chop Gate where a right is taken towards Helmsley. Newgate Bank is the next test leading into Helmsley with its shops and cafes. The ride exits Helmsley on the largely flat road towards Kirby Moorside where a left will be signed leading to Hutton le Hole and on to Blakey Ridge and Castleton. This is a long long climb with many steep sections and false flats! A fast decent leads down to Castleton with another challenging climb back onto the moor tops before turning towards Commondale which again means a hard climb out of the village. The route is now heading towards Kildale but is rarely flat. Once the route gets to Kildale the hard work is over but there is still 10 miles to go as you head towards Stokesley and then head towards Great Broughton and the finish.

The shorter route is largely flat and will feature all of the facilities offered on the challenge ride in a scenic ride around the villages west of the Moors.

There is parking for 100 cars at the start area. Toilet and changing facilities are available in the sports club. There will be technical support available from our qualified mechanic at the start and moto support on route. The route will be fully signed and have a feed station at around half distance. Food and drink available before and after the event.
