Gran Fondo Sportful Sportive 2014

The Gran Fondo Sportful sportive (formerly called the Gran Fondo Campagnolo) takes place on the third Sunday in June every year on closed roads and is widely considered one of the toughest sportives in Europe. It brands itself as "Only for Real Cyclists" and is one of the major one day races in Italy for pro riders as well as amateurs. The main reason for this is that the 4,569 metres of climbing over 208.5km. With six major climbs on the route, this is not for the faint of heart. This will be the 20th year of the Gran Fondo so it is likely to be a special celebratory edition. Registrations start on 1 October 2013 and are likely to sell quickly.
