One of Italy's most famous sportives, Granfondo Stelvio Santini sees a rebrand to La Stelvio Santini for 2024 - and some route changes forced by roadworks - but the central challenge remains the same: the two classic ascents that are the Mortirolo and the Passo dello Stelvio.
The Mortirolo and the Stelvio are two of the most beautiful climbs in the world that echo with the feats of Fausto Coppi and Marco Pantani. During the Giro d’Italia 2012, a single stage saw the peloton take on both of these legendary climbs for one of the most brutal days of the race. Now the Grandondo Stelvio Santini will allow you to pit yourself against these legendary climbs and follow in the pedal strokes of some of the greatest icons cycling has ever known.
There are three routes on offer – short (64km), medium (108km) and long (130km). The distances for the long and medium routes are shorter than is traditional, this is because of major roadworks that mean the ascent of Teglio is currently inaccessible. Does that make the Granfondo Stelvio a little easier than usual? Perhaps... but with the Mortirolo and Stelvio lying in wait, it's far from an easy ride!
Entrants will each receive a Granfondo Stelvio Santini cycling jersey – made in Italy by Santini Maglificio Sportivo – as part of their race pack.
Entry includes:
- Custom bib with your own name
- Timing chip (to be returned at the end of the event)
- Race package including SANTINI CYCLING WEAR high end jersey in the size ordered during registration and various gadgets
- Four feed stops on the route (SERNIO, END OF MORTIROLO DESCEND, BORMIO, 3rd STELVIO CANTONIER) and at the finish line
- Five mechanical assistance points along the route (TOVO round-trip, SERNIO, MORTIROLO DISCESA END, BORMIO, 3rd STELVIO CANTONIER)
- Pasta party from 12 noon at the Bormio Sports Center.
