Our longest running event – Come and tame the original Devil!!
The event will be based from Llanwrtyd Wells (LD5 4RA). There are 50, 83, and epic 122 mile options.
Llanwrtyd Wells is set in a superb area for road cycling – stunning scenery, quiet roads, smooth tarmac (you will be hard put to find a pot-hole). Depending on which distance you choose you will be tackling the Devils Staircase, Black Mountain and Cwm Owen (Tour of Britian King of The Mountains section).
All 3 routes tackle the infamous Devils Staircase (the tough side) at 16 miles in, so you will be warmed up for this brute of a climb (see the video from the milk race below).
On the 50 mile route, once the Devil’s Staircase is under your belt you’ll only have to tackle the Tirabad climb. The scenery on the route is stunning, especially the Abergwesyn Valley and the section around the Llyn Brianne Reserviour.
The 83 mile route goes on to tackle the Climb into the top of the Cothi Valley, and then the climb up to the Usk reservoir, followed by the rolling roads back to the finish.
The 122 mile route is much tougher, takes in the same climbs as the 83 mile route but also throws in the Bwlch Cerrig Duon followed by the climb to Crai. The route follows the rolling roads back to the finish. With 5004 metres of climbing this is going to be an epic day out!
