Friendly fun, village, charity sportive. Female friendly (and led). Pork pies and medals included.
Join us on the inaugural Whixley Phoenix Sportive bike ride. Whether it’s your first long distance bike ride or your 100th, there’s something on the two planned routes for you. The routes will be clearly signed so you won’t get lost and volunteers will be stationed at any tricky junctions and at the feed stations for any additional help or advice.
Our medium route is 26 miles (40km) and takes in the back lanes around our wonderful village. It includes a lunch / brunch stop in Helperby to refuel those weary legs!
Our long route, 50 miles (80km), is a little more challenging, taking in some of the Howardian hills. You’ll need an extra food stop with this one so have brunch at Helperby then return to Helperby for lunch after you’ve sampled a bit of climbing.
There’ll be a mechanic on hand throughout the day for those pesky mechanicals (thanks to Spokey Dokey Bikes!) and a First Responder medic on course to ensure your safety (thanks to Julian from Julian Hall First Aid Service).
The event is open to all abilities and experience, sign up and you’ll be invited to join one of many training rides run by our two British Cycling qualified coaches, thanks Claire and Rob. They’ll also be a pre-ride mechanical check for those resurrecting their bike from the garden shed :-).
