The first session of the latest Revolution Series event, held at the the Lee Valley VeloPark in London, saw Olympic champions Laura Trott and Ed Clancy delight home fans with fine performances.
Returning once more to the scene of her triumphs in 2012, Trott defeated Emily Kay in the final stage of the Women's Elimination Race. The double Olympic gold medalist rode again later to take first place in the Women's Scratch Race, showing her strength by moving around the outside on the final straight.
Meanwhile Team Pursuit Olympic champion, Ed Clancy, similarly delighted fans by posting the fastest time in the Flying Lap contest.
The Revolution Series mixes UCI races with crowd-pleasing events based on a Team GB versus Rest of World format.
Germany's Maximillan Levy produced a typically powerful display to win the Men's Keirin while in the Derny final Jack Bobridge of Australia scored a convincing victory.
The Longest Lap for Sprinters, which sees riders holding position at the start for an unspecified time before sprinting for a single lap, was won by Jeffrey Hoogland of the Netherlands ahead of Levy and Joe Trueman of Team GB.
The concluding event was the Madison, which was won by the ONE Pro team.
Saturday's afternoon session will see all eyes on Dame Sarah Storey who will be attempting to break the women's UCI Hour Record.
Round 5 of the Revolution Series at Lee Valley velodrome concludes on Saturday with two sessions: afternoon, 13:00 - 16:00 and evening, 19:00 - 22:00. Doors open 1 hour before start. For tickets and further information, visit www.cyclingrevolution.com/tickets
