Science in Sport (SiS) has announced its partnership with the new Rise Above Sportive, the official cyclosportive of Mark Cavendish, winner of 25 Tour de France stages.

The event will take place on Sunday 9 August 2015 in Chester and North Wales, featuring a closed road route in and around Chester and 80, 120 and 185km options.

The Rise Above Sportive features some of the most iconic climbs in North Wales such as the Horseshoe Pass and World’s End.

SiS has worked with some of the best athletes and teams in the world since 1992, and will provide sports nutrition, advice and support for participants on the event.

Mark Cavendish and Sir Chris Hoy, two of Britain's most successful cyclists in history, are Elite Consultants for the company.

The three routes were designed by Cavendish and feature some of the most iconic climbs in North Wales such as the Horseshoe Pass and World's End. Riders will need to stay fuelled and hydrated during the challenging route; the 185km route version contains 2800m of elevation.

The event is a chance to ride with the former World and British Champion. Cavendish will be joining thousands of amateur cyclists in taking on the event, starting and finishing on the cobbles in the heart of Chester.

SiS will support three feed stations on route as well as providing pre-filled bottles of SiS GO Energy and SiS GO Electrolyte at the start, and SiS REGO Rapid Recovery to help riders recover straight after finishing.

Rise Above Sportive Director, Simon Bayliff, said: "We're delighted to be working with Science in Sport, who have a long established history of working with the world's top cycling events. Their market leading status and quality commitment reflects the same ethos of the Rise Above Sportive and we look forward to being able to supply all of our entrants with SiS products in August."

Stephen Moon, CEO of Science in Sport, commented: "The Rise Above Sportive is set to be a fantastic challenge for cyclists and we're committed to supporting each and every participant with the nutritional advice, world class knowledge and support they need to get the most out of their ride."

Entries to the Rise Above Sportive are open now, priced £35. For more information and to book your place visit www.riseabovesportive.com.
