LONDON, UK - The Trois Etapes Cycling Pro-Am sportive will be broadcast on Channel 4 on Saturday 24th August at 6.55am, one of the first non-professional races ever to be shown on British TV.

The sportive, which raised $2.8 million for charity in just its second year, sees charity teams ride against each other over three days, including a 5km prologue time trial and two tough Alpine mountain stages. Each team of seven amateur riders has a pro cyclist attached to them as well as a team manager and team support car.

The one hour programme tracks the 15 charity teams and features pro riders such as Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre. Other team leaders included former Garmin-Sharp riders Daniel Lloyd, Champion Systems rider Craig Lewis, World Champion Evelyn Stevens, Team MTN Qhubeka's Songezo Jim, Gent-Wevelgem winner Lars Michaelsen, Round The World cyclist Mark Beaumont, Paracycling World Champion Colin Lynch and Madison-Gensis riders Joan Horrach and Liam Holohan. The event's back up and support crew included Bobby Julich, who worked as one of the 15 Directeur Sportifs in radio contact with the riders.

Charities taking part in the event include SHINE, Anne Frank Trust, Right To Play, Walking With The Wounded, Shooting Star CHASE, Prostate Cancer UK, Empower, World Bicycle Relief, 1001 Fontaines and dZi Foundation.
